As you can see, it is possible to have many different species in a small garden.

At the moment i am looking for a very special specie for the last free spot in my garden.
It is called

Phyllostachys heterocycla (Carrire) Mitford 1895. cv. 'Kikku-chiku' .

takekt.gif - 10.2 K The height will be about 10m. But its special shape appears only on the bottom part till 1 to 2m high. Its upper part becomes the usual bamboo shape. In Japan it is called KIKKOU-CHIKU-BAMBOO. The name of this kind of bamboo, KiKKOU, means a shell of tortoise It is a very rare specie. Even in the main producing area in the forest of Kyoto, Japan, it is rare.
Picture from The Bamboo World of Takehei (They do not have it)

If anyone knows were to get the KIKKOU-CHIKU-BAMBOO then pls E-Mail me to [email protected].
